Student Introduction:

Welcome to my class for this wonderful new year. We will have a wonderful learning experience. There are a few rules and regulations we need to address.

·        I will respect you at all times and I will also demand the same respect in return. All your fellow colleagues deserve that same respect also.

·        It is important that only one person speak at a time. Therefore, if I am speaking, you are listening and when you are allowed to speak, we will all listen.

·        No gum chewing, food, or drinks allowed in class, please, not even water.  (per order of administration)

·        Grades are to be figured by a ratio of the number of points earned to the total points possible.  Tests and quizzes will make up the majority of the grade.  Even though we are a semester course, I will consider grades up to progress reports as one grade Q1Part1.  I will then consider grades from progress reports to the end of first quarter as another grade Q1Part2.  These two will be averaged together to get your first quarter grade.  If a midterm is given, then it will be included in Q1Part2.   For the second quarter,  I will do the same thing.  I will then average the first quarter with the second quarter to give you a semester grade.  Your semester grade will be 80% of your final grade with the final exam being 20% of your final grade.  All students will be required to take the final exam.  Only seniors that have earned an average of 90 or above will be exempt from the final exam only.

·        Books are to be covered at all times.

·        You are to arrive to class on time and with all material needed taken out and ready to use, like homework, pencil, notebook,  calculators, etc.

·        I will not allow pen for anything that is to be handed in. All tests/quizzes are to be done in PENCIL, and points will be taken off on an increasing basis if not.

·        When homework is assigned it is expected to get done, and will be part of your grade.  I will randomly choose what homework assignments will count.   Please be reminded that you may check your homework assignment at any time through this website or at www.schoolnotes.com.

·        Notebooks are an important part of the learning process and will be graded.

·        When absent, it is your responsibility to get homework that was assigned or any notes taken in class. Check our class web page for homework assignments and other information.  It would be wise to get a telephone number of a fellow classmate to keep up with class material when you are absent.  You may also contact me any time via email to ask questions and get information.

·        You will have a great semester in my class.

·        For my Calculus students, most test days will be on Tuesdays.   I am available to help you before school and after school in room 325 or the second floor teacher’s room.  I am also available via email.  Please utilize this opportunity for extra help.    I have mandatory meetings on the first and third Thursday of each month, so I am not available after school on those days.  On the day of the test, if extra time is needed to complete the test, you must make arrangements to stay after on that same day to complete it.

·        For my Applied Math  and Honors Geometry students, tests will be given as needed, no specific day.

·        Send me an email stating that you have read this page.  In the subject column, type your full name and the words “Info Assignment”.  Also, make sure the signature sheet is printed out, signed and returned to me.
