DNA Workshop Webquest

Go to the following website: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/aso/tryit/dna/

Answer the following questions.

When were nucleic acids found?
Who found them?
When was an accurate model of DNA found?

Click on “DNA Workshop Activity.” Answer the questions below.

Define DNA Replication.
Click on the DNA replication button. When you unzip the DNA, what happened?
What breaks the ladder?
Follow the directions to complete the DNA molecule. Which bases go together?
Define Protein Synthesis. Click on the protein synthesis button at the top.
What happened? Describe in words what happened? Be specific.
What are you to do next?
What bases are paired together?
How is this different from the DNA replication?
After you matched up the bases, a description popped up. Briefly summarize this.
What was the order of the amino acids (you will match up the base pairs with the complementary base pairs). When you match all three base sequences together, tell me what the order is. (The amino acid names are the blue labels that go with each base sequence. Ex: Serine)
At the end, the description states how many amino acid sequences our body has. What is this number?
What is the long chain called that you created?
