Lake Michigan Lighthouse Tour, 2002

In the summer of 2002, David, Evan and I went on a six day adventure travelling around Lake Michigan looking at lighthouses.
We enjoyed seeing lots of small towns and about 30 lighthouses.
We camped every night, except one (we slept in the car...long story).

On the first day, we left home a little after noon and drove up to the lake and through Chicago. Since we had already seen the Chicago Harbor light on a previous trip, we decided to drive past and up to Evanston, IL. Our first lighthouse, Grosse Point was near our campsite.

The next morning, an annoying little birdie woke me up before daylight. I decided to get up and go watch the sun rise on the beach (We were on the southwest side of the lake and when we got around to the east side we wouldn't be able to see the sun rise over the lake. This was our only chance!) So, I thought David and Evan would enjoy the experience also, so I woke them up. David wasn't thrilled with the idea, but we had fun anyway. We saw a deer on the beach and there were tons of dragonflies. We also caught these pictures

Our next stop was Kenosha, WI. We first went to the old harbor lighthouse and then walked down the pier to see the newer light.

***** So far, I've only shown the southwest corner of the lake. There's much much more, but I have work to do. I'll finish this page eventually, but I really wanted to put one or two pictures here for Andrea...They're not great, but considering they were taking by someone much shorter than us, they're not too bad.

Oh, and I can't resist this pic...
Evan on the wall by one of my favorite lighthouses, Eagle Bluff Light, in Door County, WI. He's not mad, he just didn't know I was going to take the pic. He was staring out at the lake and taking it all in. 1
