The Waimea Plains Anglican
Parish is an area of Southland, New Zealand, that spirals away in
a radius of 70 kilometers from the hub of Lumsden. It is surrounded
by mountains, and a large plain gouged out by the Glaciers of Creation.
And it is one of the most beautiful areas of New Zealand.
Waimea Plains
is the Anglican Parish in the Diocese of Dunedin for Northern Southland.
It is a parish with a varied history. The first services were held in
large sheep stations or in gold towns, not necessarily on Sundays, but
just as and when the Vicar arrived. We work rather differently today.
