Shabakashauweyek Lenape'wàk
The Shabakashauweyek Lenape'wàk [Laurel Ridge
Lenapé People] was created for the
purpose of presenting the Lenapé culture and traditions in
public exhibitions. Pam has at least one American
Indian ancestor, Paul has no traceable American Indian
heritage. Both have been adopted by other Lenapé people
and are proud to embrace that culture.
Because Pam's American Indian heritage is through the
women of her mother's family, by Eastern Woodlands tradition
she would be a "full-blood". In an older time, when Paul married
her, he would have been joined to her People. Their adoption by
another Lenapé would also make them
"full-bloods" by tradition. But these things are only
of value to those who honor such traditions, and such traditions are no longer considered valid in these modern times.
Pam and Paul live in western Pennsylvania [USA].
They have Lenapé friends and acquaintances among many
groups, including the Eastern Delaware Nations, the Turtle Island
Chatauqua, the Eastern Lenapé Nations, the Big Horn
Lenapé Nation and the Thunder Mountain Lenapé Nation.
The purpose of this web site is to provide factual information
about the Lenapé people and culture. The information
presented here is accurate to the best of our knowledge, as we
learn from reference material and as we are taught by others. We
welcome you and hope you find that which you seek.
