The ASERP Mail List

To Subscribe

For those participating in the activities of the Australian Social & Economic Rights Project, it will probably be useful to subscribe to the ASERP e-mailing list. To subscribe to the list, you can send a message to the following email address:

aserp_vwg-subscribe@egroups.com

Note that the content of the message is unimportant, as it will be processed automatically by the eGroups server, from which the list operates. After you send the message, you will be added to the list when the list moderator approves your subscription. You may be contacted at some stage if your subscription to the list has not been sponsored by an existing subscriber. If after a few days nothing appears to have happened, please email the owner of this website.

Further information

The ASERP e-mailing list has a number of email addresses which have distinct functions. These are explained as follows:

  • aserp_vwg@egroups.com

This is the list itself. Sending an email to this address will cause eGroups to globally send your message to everyone in the group. This should be used judiciously to avoid quasi-spamming busy people. Please note that if you use your email software's Reply function to reply to a message which has reached you via this address, your reply will be sent globally to all subscribers, even though you may think you are only replying to the author of the message.

  • aserp_vwg-owner@egroups.com

A message sent to this address will only be forwarded to the list owner. You should address enquiries regarding administration of the list to this address. Email to the list owner is cleared every day or so.

  • aserp_vwg-subscribe@egroups.com

This is the address for potential subscribers to request membership of the listserv. In your networking, you can give potential Working Groupers this address to get them access to the listserv. All potential subscribers have to be approved by a list moderator. Potential subscribers must use their usual email address when requesting subscription to the listserv, as the messages are processed automatically by eGroups and the originating email address is taken to be the destination for messages. Note that the contents of the message are not important, as no-one ever sees the messages sent to this address, so advise potentials not to bother with wording. When eGroups receives a subscription request via this address, it automatically notifies the list owner that a subscriber is pending.

  • aserp_vwg-unsubscribe@egroups.com

If anyone wants to cease their subscription to the listserv, send a message to this address from your usual email address (again, content of the message is unimportant). The message is processed automatically by eGroups, no questions asked, except that eGroups automatically sends the list owner notification that the subscriber has unsubscribed.
