AN AIR TRAVELER’S LOVE SONG POST 9/11

        aka

              “MY KNIFE”

                                      --for C.B.

You know, I have a knife in Bakersfield

To me, it is a very special knife

It’s one I’ve had a while and like to wield

An one I value near as much as life,

I had to leave my knife in Bakersfield

That’s where they checked and found me with my knife

They would not let me pass unless I yield

My knife but I’d as soon as give up my life!

And so I stashed it; now I’m going back

To make my claim then we will be as one

My knife and I through Life’s deceits will hack

For truth and justice, contra lies and deception.

So hard and shiny, thin and sharp the blade

With which all violators shall be paid.
