What if John Lennon murdered Yoko Ono

Then would the media descend en masse

To chase the scoop on did he do it or no

And picture him against his legend past,

When Paul and George and Ringo come to visit

Those walking talking waving celebrity stars

Then would admiring crowds exceed all limit

And push the story to safety behind steel bars?

They would, and more; we flock to those adored

Our hearts in thrall to media's potent pull

Attracted as to the coming of the Lord

Though to reality we play the fool.

These giants dwarf our petty moral constraints

Yet trail heels in common dust and complaint.
