The prophet Daniel saw the seven members of the Warren Commission, President Lyndon Johnson, James J. Rowley, chief of the Secret Service and J. Edgar Hoover, Director of the FBI as a great and terrible beast destroying the whole world. He also saw an eleventh individual rise up among them and prevail over three of them.

Richard Nixon, is the little, big horn who springs out of the midst of the ten government leaders. He has the eyes of a man symbolizing the cunning foresight he has. He is smart like a fox. His mouth speaking great things is symbolic for his great speeches in which he claimed to be a great leader of the people.

However, with his rise to power the United States Government has entered a nightmare. The long, national nightmare is not over and it will not end until truth and justice have been served.

He is mightier than the former because he has more influence with the armed forces of the United States and with the other branches of government than did President Johnson. While his changing of times and laws is seen in his propagating lies and injustices as truth and justice.

The three dethroned kings or leaders, who were brought down by Richard Nixon (v.8), are Richard Russell, John Cooper and Hale Boggs. All three of these individuals compromised their beliefs in the truth about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Not one of them believed that there was only one bullet that wounded both the president and Gov. Connally.

They signed their names to the Warren Report testifying to its authenticity when in fact they knew that Lee Harvey Oswald was innocent. Each of them made public statements denying what the report claimed (Shaw, p.6).

The reason the other four individuals of the Warren Commission were not plucked up (v.24) was because they aided in the cover-up knowingly and willingly. However, Russell, Cooper and Boggs joined in the cover-up knowingly but unwillingly. These three individuals signed their names to the Warren Report under protest. They wanted a footnote stating that they dissented but Chief Justice Earl Warren refused, insisting on unanimity.

Eventually, like many other Warren Commission lawyers and investigators, the three of them realized that “they were operating on a preconceived set of conclusions and were reminded that it would be in their own interest not to challenge the lone assassin scenario given them” (Shaw, p.6).

From the time the Virgin Mary was born until the beginning of Her Son’s public ministry the evil one sought Her soul. He also sought Her soul during Her Son’s public ministry. Today he still seeks to destroy the truths about Her through the pseudo-Christians and his henchmen. It is in this manner that he persecutes Her for a time and times and a half time (Rev.12:14).

A similar situation may be said for Richard Nixon. He will reign as king for a time and times and a half time. Which means that he will reign for an undetermined length of time as man measures time. He served as a member of congress and the Vice President for a time. He served as president for a time. He then served as former president the half time.

Richard Nixon is seen as a horn on the beast because he attempted to draw the children of God into merciless wars in Cuba, in Vietnam, in South America, in Central America and in the Mid-East.

He violated the rights of the people of America by having his undercover agents infiltrate their privacy. For example, his spying on Morton Halperin and Daniel Ellisburg.

He rendered the military independent of and superior to the civil government. Two classic examples of this were the military coup in Chile — which received aid from the CIA acting under his orders — and his allowing National Guard Troops to murder several innocent children of God at Ohio (Kent) State University in February 1969. He condemned the demonstrations and protests of peaceful university students as un-American.

This is to say nothing of Nixon’s illegal acts, his breach of promise, his destruction of evidence and all his other unwarranted actions and foul deeds revealed by the Watergate investigations. He repeatedly dismissed representatives who opposed his invasions of the rights of the children of God. The Saturday Night Massacre was a classic example of this.

Then there were his many attempts to conceal the truth of the Kennedy assassination and Vietnam War (Oglesby, p.12). There were also Nixon’s many dismal attempts to influence and stop the Watergate investigations. For example, his illegal wiretaps, his claim to executive privilege and his misuse of it to obstruct justice and impede the Watergate investigations.

There was the so called “accidental” erasure of more than eighteen minutes of subpoenaed recording tape. A clear example of altering and tampering with evidence in an ongoing investigation (U.S. v.s. Nixon, 1974). Then there was his attempt to push the blame for Watergate onto lesser subordinates, the many court appeals to forestall justice and the many public announcements claiming his “innocence.”

Finally, there was the fabricated attempted assassination while visiting New Orleans on August 20, 1973, in order to win public sympathy for himself. One should note that the alleged culprit, Edwin M. Gaudet, was an innocent victim who was more than 1600 km away in New Mexico at the time the Secret Service claimed he was in New Orleans plotting to assassinate Nixon.

The crimes of Richard Nixon are as a giant iceberg; one can only see the tip of them. The rest of his crimes are hidden in lies and a titanic cover-up. Those who support him and his actions are defenders of these crimes and will sink with his ship.

Every action taken by Nixon, from the time of the original Watergate break-in — a third rate burglary and cover-up bungled by amateurs — until his actual resignation, was aimed, not at helping the citizens of America or the world, but at saving himself and his corrupt administration.

When he finally did resign from the presidency in disgrace, he did not say that he was sorry for deceiving the children of God. He did not say that he was ashamed for having broken the law or even admit his guilt in the face of undeniable evidence. Nor did he admit that he was resigning in order to avoid impeachment.

What did he do? He claimed that he was resigning due to lack of public support and for the good of the American people. He acted like a baby who has broken his toys. For that was all the presidency was to Richard Nixon. A toy that he himself misused and disgraced.

His actions caused the White House in Washington, D.C. to become a desolate, whited sepulcher and the Statue of Liberty in New York to become a naked, wanton whore. His actions sent the United States into a Babylonian captivity.

Those who love their government do not enrich themselves at the expense of the government. If one loves their government then such a person does not violate the laws of that government, nor try to pervert the laws of that government.

Everyone of these individuals claim that they love the United States but their actions speak louder than their words. By their actions these individuals have proven that they do not care what happens to the citizens of the United States. They have enriched themselves at the expense of the government. This is how they have eaten the flesh of the great harlot and made her naked.

With all their untruthful and unjust ways they have incorporated two systems of justice in the United States — one for the rich, the famous and the influential and another for the poor, the weak and the common citizen. They have created two classes of citizen — the privileged and the unprivileged. They have divided the American people and destroyed the people’s loyalty in the government. They have lied to the American people and undermined the people’s faith in the government.

Thus, they have proven that they hate the United States. Thus, has the United States become a wanton, naked whore.

Were this not true, then today there would not be thousands of American citizens who are dissatisfied with the social, the economic and the political policies that are prevalent in the United States. Were this not true, then there would not be thousands of American citizens who are infuriated over the privileged class systems and unjust court systems that prevail. Were this not true, then there would not be thousands of American citizens who are no longer loyal to the United States.

Thus, the United States has lost its credibility and if the government cannot regain the trust and loyalty of the American people then that government will die. This will then be the sign that the dreaded Nuclear War has begun. This is how the horns of the beast will burn the great harlot with fire. The above individuals would rather see America destroyed in a Nuclear War than to allow the truth of their crimes be known.

The prophet Daniel also saw the United States as a terrible and wonderful beast destroying the whole world. The United States government is terrible because of the crimes it has committed against the children of God all over the world. The United States is wonderful because of the many riches and luxuries a person may obtain there and because of the Constitution from which it gets its strength.

The iron teeth symbolize that the United States is stronger than all other kingdoms and nations that have ever existed on earth. The beast is exceedingly strong because of its Bill of Rights which other nations envy and try to emulate. Thus, the United States exerts a great influence upon the rest of the world.

The United States devours the whole earth by propagating democracy and free enterprise, which is symbolized in the feet of the beast. Other nations accept democracy and Capitalism as justified systems. But the United States propagates these systems as bait on a barbed hook. It is a vain hope of freedom and riches for everyone when such riches are obtainable by only the rare few.

Once a government begins to follow the economic philosophy of the United States, the unethical businessmen and dishonest politicians take control of their government and corrupt it. Thus, the beast treads on them and breaks them in pieces.

This does not mean to insinuate that democracy is an ungodly form of government or that free enterprise is a suppressive economic system. As stated earlier, no government or governmental system is ungodly so long as it is supervised “for the people” — to quote the words of President Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address.

It does not matter what type of government controls the nation or who controls the government. As long as those in positions of authority and leadership are truthful and just with the citizens then it does not matter what type of government or governmental system is prevalent. It will be a good government. It will be a government that will not die. It will be a government that will work for the people and do the will of the people.

But a government that lies to its citizens and is unjust with its citizens is a government that will eventually die in the filth of its own corruption.

Before the beast ruled over the United States of America it was a great nation. One might even say that America was a “Promised Land” for Christianity. America even had a child of God to lead them to this land that flowed with milk and honey. This was Christopher Columbus, an explorer who dedicated his voyage of discovery to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

God made the United States the greatest nation that has ever existed on earth. He shed His grace upon America. He blessed the land and He magnified it. Our Lord set the United States up as a guiding light of the world.

But the United States has turned sour. It has rejected God’s grace and blessing. Its light has been extinguished. Its liberty has been raped and its eagle has become a vulture. The strength of the United States has been given to the evil one, who is using it to lead the world to destruction.

The United States has become the home of the oppressed and the cowardly. Freedom and justice are only for the rich and influential. From the traffic courts to the Supreme Court there is no justice for the children of God. The faith, hope and love of the United States is Gone With the Wind. Jesus Christ can take no more, as with Israel:

Our Lord has sent many of His servants to the United States, warning the people of the dangers of pollution, exploitation and overpopulation and of the evil inherent in corruption, lies, mismanagement and injustices. Jesus Christ is constantly trying to gather the people into His protective arms. But they have not listened to the chosen ones He has sent to them. They have not obeyed His law.

Thus, the people of the United States now face the ultimate decision. They must allow truth and justice to reign supreme in their laws now or watch their nation be destroyed in a Nuclear War.

The angel described in verse one is the same person of chapter fourteen, verse eight. One knows this because they both proclaim that Babylon has fallen. His great power is in his great influence on others. The earth being enlightened with his glory is seen in his wisdom and knowledge of God, which he gives to all mankind. Thus, the earth is enlightened by his message. He comes from heaven symbolizing that his message comes from our Lord. This message will be heard all over the world. Thus, he has a strong voice.

One should note that at this time in the narration — during his ministry — the seventh vial is pouring and the United States is dying in the filth of its own evil deeds and its own corruption. This is because no government, no matter how strong it is, can exist for long if its leaders are corrupt. It will die from within; the weight of its own corruption will topple it.

This is what has happened in the United States. Hence, it is the home for many sinful, hateful individuals. It is these individuals, not the children of God, who are destroying the earth. These henchmen are claiming to bring peace to America and the world. But their efforts are aimed at peace without God. It is Satan’s empty peace.

They cannot see that America is plagued today because many of the domestic and foreign policies of President Kennedy were halted when he was assassinated. They do not perceive that many of the problems that afflict America today are a direct result of his assassination.

All the nations of the world are drunk with materialism because the leaders of these nations have directed their governments to follow the example of the United States. They have placed materialistic goals and materialistic possessions as superior to truth and justice. It is in this way that they have committed fornication with the harlot.

Many world leaders have become wealthy seeking after materialistic pleasures while their governments are sinking in lies, injustices, mismanagement and corruption. Many have become wealthy by preying on the afflictions of the poor. Then they use their ill-gotten wealth to suppress the poor even further, forcing them to live under economic slavery.

Their love for materialism and the luxuries of life has prevented the leaders of the world from perceiving the deceptions and the misrepresentations that permeate the United States.

In the fourth verse, the Holy Spirit warns the children of God to flee from Babylon. This verse is not to be taken literally.

What God means here is that He does not want His children to indulge in the sins of the United States. Jesus Christ does not want the children of God to do as the United States government and those who defend its corruption are doing and place material possessions and money as more important than truth and justice, which is idolatry.

Such action blinds and hinders the soul and our Lord does not want the children of God to be blind and drunk with materialism. Thus, He warns them to flee from placing too much love in materialism and materialistic goals.

Verse five manifests just how great are the sins of Babylon. Verse six tells of the punishment the great whore will receive. For every discomfort and pain she has given to the children of God, those who believe in her will receive double from the wrath of God. As much as she has gorged herself with materialism, so will those who support her corruption be gorged with torment (v.7).

In verse seven, Babylon claims to be an indestructible voice of freedom and the queen of liberty. This is seen in the opinion of many American citizens toward their government. Many do not believe that the United States can be destroyed. They do not believe that the United States is corrupt.

But these people fail to acknowledge the suppression of the poor, the outcast and the weak by those in positions of authority. They refuse to admit that the government has not protected the rights of the disabled, the illiterate, the poor and many other minorities who do not have the ability to defend themselves. They do not see that many citizens in positions of authority are prejudice and bigoted.

They do not see that along with the many freedoms Americans have, many civil rights are still denied to the children of God and this is aiding the beast in its efforts to turn the United States into a great whore.

But more important, their materialistic blindness is causing many Americans to believe they can win if a Nuclear War begins. They do not see that there are no winners in a Nuclear War. They treat Nuclear War as though it were a game, a game that they believe they can win. But it is a strange game they are playing. The only winning move is not to play. They would do far better to follow the advice of Josue in the 1983 movie WarGames and play a nice game of chess.

Verses eight through eleven foretell of the short period of time in which the United States will be destroyed. The one day mentioned is symbolic for the short duration of the war. Many nations of the world will be affected by this war. They will not escape its aftermaths; they will be left desolate. This war will be a great shock to all the inhabitants of the earth; much greater than the shock felt after the atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945.

This war will cause many people to be left homeless, helpless and without sufficient food, drink or medical supplies, reminiscent of the many futuristic science fiction stories that are prevalent.

When it is over, Satan’s henchmen will be the only people left alive. In many areas there will be no law, no police and no government to protect a person from evil. Men will be murdered, women abused and babies killed. The living will envy the dead and will seek death, but it will escape them. In the end, every man, woman and child on the face of the earth will die. Man will be extinct.

Verses twelve, thirteen and fourteen describes the many modern conveniences of the United States that will be destroyed in the war. Then verses fifteen through nineteen describes the world’s reaction to the war and the destruction of the United States. The individuals who are shocked are those who were deceived by their love of materialism. They are stupefied by the fall of the United States and they find it almost impossible to believe that such a great nation has been completely destroyed in such a short time.

The one hour mentioned in verses seventeen and nineteen is symbolic for the short duration of the Nuclear War. For those with wisdom and understanding from God, the terrorists attacks of September 11, 2001, against the United States are only a prelude to this war. Just as Adolf Hitler was a prelude to the great antichrist, so also is the attack against the United States on September 11, 2001, a prelude to the Nuclear War.

Just as it only took about an hour for the New York World Trade Center to come down, the same is true of this war. It will be one of the shortest wars in the history of mankind — a few days or weeks perhaps. Nobody knows when it will begin. No one knows how long it will last. Nobody knows when it will end. But once it is over and the last Roman Catholic priest of God has died then Jesus Christ will come and call His brethren to rise with Him into heaven.

It is important to understand the second coming of Jesus Christ. He will come to judge the living and the dead. He will not come after the last person has died. Rather, He will come after He sees that nobody else will repent of their sins and the last Roman Catholic priest has died. Then He will have no way of furthering the spread of His gospel. Hence, there will still be some henchmen alive on earth when He comes. But eventually these too will die.

Next our Lord tells all the children of God to rejoice over the destruction of Babylon (v.20). Which is to say that God tells His children to be happy that all the corruption on earth has been destroyed.

Then an angel proclaims that should all the money, resources and energy that have gone into creating the nuclear weapons and other war materials that will be used in the Nuclear War, if all this were focused on solving man’s problems then mankind would find the solutions and live in peace. Thus, a great millstone is lifted up and cast into the sea.

Then verses twenty-two and twenty-three profess that no more shall the United States be blessed by Jesus Christ. No more will that government be a light of hope to the world. No more will that nation stand proud among the other nations of the world.

This is because the great whore is guilty of killing all the children of God (v.24). The United States will shoulder that guilt because it will be that government which will initiate those circumstances that will bring on the dreaded Nuclear War.

But more than that, the United States has made laws that are oppressive to the poor, the outcast of society and the minority. These laws have forced many children of God to live on the fringes of the law and to violate man’s law just to stay alive. The government has created an economy and social system that forces many children of God to “pick grain on the Sabbath.” That is, the government is forcing many children of God to violate the technical aspects of the law just to survive, just to scrape out a bare existence. Woe to those who are responsible for this (Mt.18:6-7).

A homeless, teenage prostitute offers a good example. Many of them live as they do because they cannot afford anything else. They do not have the skills to do anything else. The government makes prostitution against the law. Thus, in order to survive many of these children of God have to violate the law.

Then they become easy targets for prosperous drug lords, rich pimps and organized crime. They become victims of a social system that does not care, a social system that only wants them to disappear, a social system that makes it against the law for them to earn a living the only way many of them know how. Often they must resort to prostitution, “petty thievery,” selling small amounts of marijuana and other such frivolous crimes.

But the laws they violate are often laws made by the affluent and the well off, those who do not know what it is like to live on the streets and do not care about those who do. As for the drugs and petty thievery — yes, these type of actions may be wrong but this is what Jesus meant when He said that His followers would drink poison and still live (Mk.16:18). That is, they may resort to breaking minor laws of man but they will not incur any sin.

Is it really wrong for an abused and neglected child to steal a loaf of bread from a market or to steal money to get something to eat because his or her mother is too lazy to take care her children? Such a child may have grown up in a situation or have been forced into a situation, where the only way to survive is to break the law.

Although such a child may have to break the law to survive, he or she will not incur mortal sin when doing so. Such a child of God may still have to answer to man’s justice. But God’s mercy and justice excuses such children of God of sin. Indeed, the sin falls upon those who are responsible for forcing these children of God to do as they do (Mt.18:6-7).

It is still possible to purge the United States and the nations of the world of all the vulturous beasts who are drawing the world into the terrible Nuclear War. As long as the war has not started, mankind has a chance to stop it. Mankind must follow the path led by the founders of America in the Declaration of Independence.

One should not take this as an attempt to encourage the abandonment of the laws that govern the state or to promote rebellion against the government. It is an attempt to inspire one to seek a new government through modification of the law.

Present laws are over two hundred years old. As with a computer program that has become outdated but works well and the customer is satisfied with, one does not destroy the whole program. Rather, one updates the old program, making appropriate changes in order to preserve the solid foundation of the old.

The same thing needs to be done to the United States Constitution. It is built upon a solid foundation. But it is old and outdated and needs to be updated.

The courts are a classic manifestation of the deterioration to which the government has fallen. When the law was written, no one foresaw how today’s criminals would abuse it to their own advantage. From Traffic Court to the Supreme Court there is no justice. The poor have no one to defend them and are not represented.

Judges need to stop the many frivolous lawsuits and be made more accountable for their own actions. Many act as though they are absolute lords of the courtroom, demanding strict observance to obscure courtroom procedures. They are setting the guilty free, imprisoning the innocent and allowing lawyers to pilfer from their clients.

Judges are allowing the defendants fate to be decided by ignorant masses. But a person’s fate should not be decided upon by someone who is uneducated and unrepresentative. Aristotle showed that government by the ignorant masses is evil. Hence, those who would decide the fate of a people, whether these are government representatives or the common citizens in a court of law, they should be educated in the law and be representative of their area of expertise.

Today it is necessary to use peaceful methods to dissolve those governments that seek war instead of peace. Today it is necessary to recognize that all human beings are equal in the eyes of God and the law. Today it is necessary that all nations allow their citizens to seek their own peaceful methods of finding happiness.

Mankind must follow this course and establish governments that will not only abolish the creation of, storage of and use of nuclear weapons, but will also abolish war itself. If man cannot do this then man is an endangered species.

Man would be wise to look upon his fellow human being in the same manner as did Anne Frank. On July 15, 1944, while hiding from the Germans who would seek to destroy her life, 15 year old Anne Frank wrote in her now famous diary:

She had hope in the future. Yet, less than two weeks after this entry she was on her way to Auschwitz and death by the very same people who she believed were “really good at heart,” in effect forgiving those who sought her death. Man would be wise and follow the example of this holy child of God.

Mankind is presently divided in their efforts to avoid Nuclear War. In order to avoid it man must unite under one peaceful goal. Man must guarantee that all the rights of everyone will prevail at all times. Man must guarantee that truth and justice will prevail at all times, in his governments as well as in his business practices. Man must stop deceiving and cheating his neighbor and lying to his neighbor. Man must construct governments that will be representative of the people’s rights, not just the rights of big business and special interest groups.

But most importantly, man must outlaw war and aggression as a means of settling disputes. Man must put the “absolute power to destroy all nations under the absolute control of all nations,” to quote President John F. Kennedy. If man does not establish governments that will follow this course of action, then man will only succeed in igniting the Nuclear War and bring mankind to extinction.

A word of caution: the children of God should be warned to be watchful of any efforts by man to avoid the dreaded war. Although it is right and good to pursue such a goal, mankind will not succeed in preventing the war unless mankind first has a change of heart. Mankind must first begin to love their neighbor. Only then will man succeed in creating governments that will guarantee peace and ensure that truth and justice will prevail.

To borrow from the song, Let There Be Peace on Earth: only if each person lets peace begin within themselves and lets peace be their goal, with God as our Father and recognizing that all mankind are brothers, will man save the world. One cannot state it with enough emphasis. Unless mankind first begins to love their neighbor, as outlined in the second book of this trilogy, then any effort that is undertaken to avoid the Nuclear War will only bring it on that much sooner.
