Letters to Moonchild |
October 10 1998 Merry meet Moonchild, Everyone it seems loves PAN. I myself worship the Netjeru (Egyptian) dieties, but I include Pan in my personal pantheon. (Bes (the Netjer equivalent) though I love him, just doesn't have the same type of emotional appeal.) As to picking a Celtic Goddess. Go for it. My personal belief is that the Lord and the Lady are ever present and constant divine forces who have revealed Themselves in different times and different cultures in ways that are best suited to Their individual childrens' beliefs, atitudes and emotions. The Goddess you choose then, should be that face of the Feminine divine that most appeals to your heart, mind and spirit. If that face is Celtic, then so be it, and I see no contradiction or "blasphemy"(hehe) in worshiping the Greek face of the Masculine divine at the same time. How to choose: study. Look through the mythologies, read the histories and stories (and you can do this in any library in the mythology books, not just in occult or wicca books). As you do this, it should become fairly apparent which Goddess appeals most to you. Do it reverently and with an open heart, and the Goddess Herself will soon show Her preference. It is also possible that you do not need to pick a specific Goddess, but rather honor Her simply as the Feminine Divine, again it is whatever feels right and proper for you.
