Why do there seem to be more females than males?

If you look closely at other religions, you will see that in most congregations there are more females than males. I think that the psychological differences between females and males leads females to be more inclined by upbringing to be more religious; not saying that there is a shortage of devout males in any path .

I also think that Wicca draws more females to it because it acknoweledges that half the Universe IS FEMALE. Christianity and Islam (two of the more predominant religions) have no female deity, no place for women in worship other than as witnesses, and a belief system that relegates women to the role of mothers and wives, subject to their husbands and children. (Nothing wrong with being a mother and a wife, but a lot of us want more.) Men in these paths are empowered, can rise to the top of the heirarchy if they so desire, and are the "Chosen" so to speak.

There are also those Wiccan groups that are girls only, I can see that some women have been hurt so much by a male dominated society that they would feel the need to withdraw from the company of men, but creating a mirror image of the patriarchal religions that have driven these women out (an "Old Girls" network vice an "Old Boys") seems to me to not be a good solution. The males that I have seen who are Wiccan are among the best on the planet (my opinion). They have not taken the easy path, but are willing to share with the females the power that by right should belong to all. They are more sensitive and caring and more in touch with themselves and others. I hope to see more men joining the Wise, for half the Universe IS MALE too!
