I must admit this question sounds like it was asked by one who is working around/through fundamentalist anti-wicca propaganda. But hey that is what this FAQ is here for LOL.
The answer is no. By casting spells you DO make yourself more aware of the unseen forces around you, but then they were always there, you just didn't notice them before. It could be compared to radio waves...the broadcasts are out there..you just never recognize that fact until you buy a radio receiver. Spellcasting in and of itself is not evil, nor does it make you prone to evil or vulnerable to evil. Yet once again, it is how you use the spells...are your intentions good? Are you seeking to harm or control people? If you are, then of course you will be "open" to evil..but this is not from outside like a tiger waiting to pounce, but rather because you have sent out evil and it is returned to you.
As far as openness to influence you are only as open or as closed as you choose to be. |
