St. Valentine's Day
*sigh* Love. One of the sweetest things in the world ... and yet, quite ironically, the most painful experiences we can ever go through. Love heals, love hurts, it can do both at the same time. *double sigh*
Sorry, a little depressive there, but seriously, I've learnt that it takes a lot of things to maintain love. Love isn't the fluffy stuff they advertise on TV when Valentine's Day draws near: the red roses, little teddy bears, red satin heart-shaped pillows, chocolates and more flowers. I'm not trying to be cynical here, but the commercialisation of Valentine's Day has made it close to worthless.
Instead of all that, love is something you feel and should demonstrate all the time, not just when the occasion comes around again. It doesn't take much to show someone your care and your love. A little note now and again serves as a gentle reminder of your love, a bunch of wildflowers picked while you're out jogging, concern for what's happening in each other's lives, just sitting down and talking about things together ... little things, but these little things say a thousand words.
And love isn't limited to just your other half or the person whom you intend to share your life with. But rather, it goes all out to friends, neighbours, relatives (sometimes!), the dog, the neighbour's pet white mouse ... you get the picture.
