Lee Anderson

Well. Here goes. My name is Leo P. Anderson, better know as Lee. I was born February 25th, 1956 in Darby, Pennsylvania where I lived until 1976. I'm a 41 year old Meteorologist and work at the Philadelphia International Airport. I started out going to college at the U. of Maryland for a degree in Secondary Education (History as a major/PhysEd as a minor) but dropped out to go into the Navy in 1978 because of my love of aviation. There I became a Weather Forecaster/Observer and stayed for 13 years. It's also where I met my wife of 16 years, Vinnie (she doesn't like her name Virginia) while stationed in Guam. When we got back to the states weather went in two directions computers & environmental. She chose computers and I stuck with environmental weather. I was in the National Weather Service for 2 years and was downsized in 1996. I then bounced to a few weather contractors around this area before settling into my present job as sub-contractor with the Federal Aviation Admin. We have three daughters Kelley (13), Heather (8), and our youngest Emily (21 months). I also have an 17 year old daughter (Melissa) from a previous marriage. We live in Swedesboro, NJ. Just over the Delaware river right in between Wilmington, Delaware and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

I first discovered Pantheism from an article Paul Harrison wrote for Time magazine back in January of this year. It corresponded with a time when I was pretty fed up with being a Roman Catholic and was looking for the answers to questions I have had about god and the universe since I was 11. As a young boy running around the Southeast portion of Pennsylvania I had a great love for the outdoors. Collecting rocks, chasing minnows in the creeks, looking for shooting stars in the night sky. I always knew that there was a religion or philosophy for me. I knew that something was wrong with what I was being taught in catholic school. But I was afraid to even say anything to my friends. I thought that the world was divine. The universe was sacred, because I had seen it. When I read Paul's article, I couldn't believe it. This is what I have believed almost all my life. Now it had a name. Scientific Pantheism. And here's where I belong. It's nice to finally have people that believe what I do. I don't feel like an outsider any longer.

I have several postings of what I think on Paul's home page. They're under Lee Anderson. That's what I like to go by. Lee. If you ever want to get a hold of me you can e-mail me at lee_anderson@juno.com. I love to talk about nature and the things people have seen that I have yet too. And maybe I can tell you a few old sea stories too. I don't have a scanner yet, but plan on getting one soon so I can send along a photo. I think it's important to have a face with a name in a list like this, where were closely knit. Take care.
