An Amorous Distance Is Through
by Erik Horton
Love is like gin,
Kept locked in my bin.
Where too much is never enough.
Drunken ,and scathed,
And broken, and torn,
I still want to go back for more.
Addiction.
Addiction is here.
But the bottle I've abused is already gone,
And with it you flew out the door.
Feelings, feelings,
Feelings never past.
To feel you again is something I will never do.
Touching, touching,
To touch nothing is to grasp.
Once again I believe your substance is past.
Although this time I think it will never be back.
Leaving, leaving,
Left for good.
Please tell me you love me once more.
If it was a lie then why'd you say it before?
Don't worry about me,
I'm fine all alone.
In fact, I think I prefer it.
Absence grows fonder,
Not the heart or the lover,
This cliché is just pretense as well.
Loving leaving is all that I can do.
