Amomum is found in the book of Revelation and appears just once in the Bible. The actual translated word is spices. It is a plant of India which is quite fragrant of the order Scitamineoe. It is found only in the tropics and it resembles the ginger plant. The rootstocks are creeping and have large leaves. Seeds of Amomum are known for their aroma and are very pungent. Several species are sources for the spices cardamom and grains of paradise. The spice mentioned in Revelation has grape-like seeds from which an ointment is made.
