Why do we need this?
Because our society is filled with conflicts which originate from the inner contradiction between good and evil in all of us. Such contradiction does not exist anywhere in the natural world. Nothing can come to exist with inherent contradiction. So, this contradiction is certainly not natural and it developed after human beings came into existence.
That process is called the Human Fall. Wa can not solve any problem unless we understand and restore this original mistake. What could have been so serious? Certainly not some simple mistake. That could only be misuse of the most important and sacred thing - love.The Human Fall, described symbolically in various scriptures, was immature and selfish love relationship between the first man and the first woman.
True Love lost
This immature love destroyed the ideal of the family and caused spiritual death - human ignorance of God's Heart, Love and Truth. It created the world of people without identity, in constant inner conflict, misunderstandings between men and women and alienation of man from nature.
Family breakdown brings divorces, teen pregnancies, single parents, neglecting of old people,...and indirectly violence, suicide, addictions, homosexuality, discrimination, crime, poverty, wars,...
What can we do about it ?
To restore this world, we need to build true, ideal families. We need husbands and wives who embody true, unselfish love. We need unity of mind and body, husband and wife, and parents and children. Such families are basis for righteous, liberated and creative society and ideal world.
Family and True Love
The beginning point of ideal family is God's blessing for our marriage. This marks the beginning of the path we all should follow to gain true happiness.
Until now, more than 40 million couples have received the Blessing through the ceremonies conducted by Reverend Sun Myung Moon and Mrs. Hak Ja Han Moon. Representative leaders of all major faiths give their blessings together with Rev&Mrs Moon in these ceremonies. New, as well as previously married couples, belonging to all world's religions, races and nationalities determined in this way to renew their marriage vows and join the restoration of world and family.
In the Blessing, partners devote themselves to each other, pledge for eternal fidelity and to support each other in building perfect character and loving family.
How to participate ?
Our goal is 360 million couples worldwide to receive the Blessing by February 3 1999. Because of such a huge number, we started the pre-blessing ceremonies, so that anybody can participate anytime and just receive the final prayer from Rev&Mrs Moon during the main ceremony. It will be broadcasted by satellite all over the world and every country will organize local ceremonies.
