A mirrored image shimmers lightly
presents a stranger that I see.
like a ghostly apparition
asking questions just of me.
The hollowed eyes of that cold stranger
stare intently back at me
yet they are strikingly familiar
I can't believe it's really me.
Where's the youth that I remember,
the laughing smile I used to see?
Have the years and sorrow taken such a toll
upon the me I used to be?
My inner soul and childish feelings
they play the games they always played.
Although my knight in shining armour,
he's slightly been delayed.
A mirrored image shimmers lightly
presents a stranger that I see.
like a ghostly apparition
asking questions just of me.
Amazing love yet to discover
enchanting dreams to be fullfilled.
I can't go back and gain my childhood.
if even it was willed.
Her saddened eyes bespoke of anguish
but wisdom gained through all this toil.
a mirrored image speaks of futures
that have yet to be unfurled.
My deepest plea breathes forth so weakly
to cleanse my tears and deepest sorrow.
Mirrored image give me much more strength
to face all of my tomorrows.
