Cecil Williamson was a flamboyant and well-known figure, although he
maintained a low profile in recent years. He is known for his ownership
of the Isle of Man Witchcraft Museum and his contacts with Gerald Gardner,
and his later ownership of the Boscastle Museum in Cornwall.
A few years ago, Cecil decided that he wished that the Bocastle Museum
and its artifacts be passed to good hands and sold the museum to an
archivist, Graham King, who has transformed the museum from the
sensationalist show piece of Cecil’s era (black mass altars and all) to a
serious museum of witchcraft history. It was not always easy to determine
fact from fiction in Cecil’s anecdotes, but such characters are always
missed.
