DeMolay is a character building organization for young men who are twelve years of age and completed the 7th grade or who are 13 to 21 years of age. In over 700 chapters throughout the United States, these young men have the opportunity to develop management, leadership and social skills as they participate in community projects, sports, and other educational programs. DeMolay also has chapters in Canada, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Panama, Japan, Italy, and the Republic of the Philippines. It was founded on March 18, 1919, by Dad Frank S. Land, a Mason in Kansas City, Missouri who wanted to help a boy whose father had passed away. Now, over 75 years later, the Order of DeMolay has grown to have Chapters located in all 50 states as well as in many other countries.
More than one million young men have been members of DeMolay. Alumni members include John Wayne, Pete Rose, Walt Disney, Dan Rather, Willard Scott, Burl Ives, Bill Clinton and countless others. DeMolay's alumni are distinguished leaders including several U.S. senators, state governors, U.S. astronauts, professional athletes, and major U.S. corporation presidents.
DeMolay is dedicated to providing a safe environment in an organization for young men who govern and direct their own activities under the "advisorship" of adults. The organization develops leadership skills and character building in the young men who work within the organization. It helps members to develop civic awareness and responsibility.
More or less, to a DeMolay, our Order is a place in which we can go and have fun hanging out with our friends, go to dances and parties, and socialize with other DeMolay Chapters, Rainbow Assemblies, and Job's Daughter's Bethals in and around our state. We make DeMolay what it is... it's what we want it to be.
Richardson Chapter, Order of DeMolay was founded on April 21, 1958. We currently have 29 members in our chapter (most of whiuch are away at school or not active) and plan to have many more. Because of a shortage of active DeMolay's due to college, we are in need of new members to join our organization. If you are interested in joining or just want to drop by and live in the Dallas, TX area, please send e-mail to Richardson_Chapter@juno.com or send a letter to:
