A gentle lady reveals herself to your scrutiny
was born in 1457 A.D. in Genoa, Italy, the only daughter of a Lombardi mother and a Toulonese father. As her father was a merchant, he traveled extensively, and Lucilla frequently accompanied him (her mother having died when she was quite young). On her journeys, she learned to speak French, English, rudimentary German, and a smidgen of Spanish. She also earned a cosmopolitan view of the emerging Renaissance world of continental Europe. In 1484, her father befriended a young Norse nobleman living in central Germany. In a fit of melancholy, he held the young man to a promise: to care for Lucilla should anything happen. Less than a year later, her father was taken hostage by a band of Scandinavians angered by his rising profits and choice of trading partners. He has yet to be heard from, and many fear he is dead, or enslaved beyond the ability to escape. True to his word, young Wulfbrand adopted Lucilla as his ward, and sat her on the throne of Drachenwald as his consort. In short order, one of Wulfbrand's squires, a young ruffian named Madoc, fell in love with Lucilla, and pleaded his case with both her and her guardian. Alas, it would take a breach of faith on his part for him to be allowed to pledge his troth, for when Wulfbrand and Madoc returned from crusade, it was found that Lucilla was with child---and Madoc was the father. They were immediately ordered to marry by the reigning King (Anton I), and have traveled together ever since.
Lark got involved with the SCA, because of friends who were active, while traveling in Europe in 1985. In the last twenty years, she has lived in Drachenwald, Atlantia, Midrealm, Meridies, and Calontir. She has served as a canton seneschal, deputy shire A&S officer, and shire herald. Lark stepped down from the throne of Drachenwald, a viscountess before she celebrated her first anniversary as a member of the SCA.
Lucilla is the twelfth Viscountess of Drachenwald and a Lady of the Edelweiss, a recipient of an Award of Arms, and a writ of Arms by Letters Patent (a royal appointment), the Order of the Kittyhawk (Windmaster's Hill, Atlantia), the Order of the Argent Comet (Meridies), the Order of the Torse (Calontir), the Order of the Golden Calon Swan (Calontir), the Princess' Order of Courtesy (Drachenwald), and the Principality Company of Sojourners (Drachenwald).
