NEWS FLASH
There will be a Pagan Community Center in Montreal. The first in Canada! Montreal Pagan Resource Center is for Pagans and the general population and will be run by Pagan volunteers. It is looking for donations of supplies and Pagan related books for an open read-only library. It is also looking for volunteers to help with renovations in July and running the place Sarting sometime in August. You can contact them at mprc@total.net The Montreal Pagan Resource Centre is the creation of a committee of volunteers. Intended to be a sanctuary and a source of information for the Montreal pagan community, the MPRC/CRPM will be located in a space graciously donated by Montreal's pagan bookstore Le Mélange Magique, existing as a completely separate entity. Once open, it will provide a reading-only library for pagans and non-pagans alike to consult, a volunteer in the field available at all times to answer questions, computers to work on and to connect to the Internet for those pagans who have no access to them, all in an effort to make information about alternative spirituality accessible to everyone. A pot of coffee and tea will always be available, as will contact information about professionals and artisans within the city. The centre will be a meeting place for all traditions within the pagan community of Montreal, a place for teaching, sharing and learning.
To make this vision reality, the founding committee needs your help. Our projected date for a grand opening is August 29th, a new moon. In order to attain this goal, we require volunteers to help with the simple renovations of the space, donations of chairs, small tables and a sofa, and any financial donations possible to help cover the low cost of those renovations. Once open, we will require volunteers to be available in the resource centre at all times to oversee blocks of computer time, access to the books and the contact lists. Additionally, we invite artisans and craftspeople to contact us to discuss displaying pieces of their work in the Centre to help make themselves known in the community, and to be sold on a small commission basis. Renovation will take place mainly during the weekend of July 8th and 9th although if you are available at other times, let us know. We ask that artisans and volunteers for minding the Centre contact us indicating your interest and availability by July 31st so that we can organise a meeting to acquaint you with guidelines and policies in early August.
The existence of such a centre available for relaxation, hosting bardics and gatherings will enrich our community immeasurably. Adjunct to this resource centre is access to a large room suitable for rituals and a smaller room with tables and chairs suitable for workshops and classes. At this time, we ask for your help, your suggestions and your support. A list of required donations and renovation tasks follows. Please contact us at mprc@total.net if you or your business can offer some of your time to help our dream come true, and to help create a sanctuary for Montreal pagans - the first of its kind in Canada.
