Saint Charles and Nativity are parishes of the Archdiocese of Halifax.

Saint Charles Borromeo was the Cardinal Archbishop of Milan and is known as one of the great Catholic Reformers of the sixteenth century. His magnificent cathedral in Milan, commonly known as "Il Duomo" is in fact named "Nativity of Our Lady". The parishes of Amherst bear the name of Saint Charles Borromeo and of his cathedral church, Nativity of Our Lady.
