CAT Tracks for June 12, 2002
MISCELLANEOUS

Quiet...

GRIEVANCE FILED

The CAT filed a grievance over the District's refusal to correct the "paycheck errors" of those teachers who were docked a day's pay. It should have been done on June 3rd according to Section 4.15 of the contract. As expected, no word from the central office...they will probably wait until June 14th...when they said they would pay it...late. The contempt of these people is appalling...and, yet, when they want something...we are supposed to jump!

NEGOTIATIONS

Sometime next week, the CAT will probably submit a new contract proposal for their consideration. This will be the first move to resume negotiations since the District unilaterally shut down the school year. I guess we will find out if they are in a better mood than they were the last two times...for the 9-minute and 12-minute sessions.

ULP

By now, an Unfair Labor Practice has probably been filed against the District for changing the last two days of the work year. The CAT previously filed a grievance...the response to which should be received by Friday of this week. The CAT will continue to explore and pursue all available avenues to address the punitive measures taken by the District in retaliation for the legal activity taken by its certified staff - i.e. the 17-day strike.

CHECK YOUR CHECK...AGAIN

After the fiasco of May 30th...need I say more? This is the check that should include "extra duty" payments...since they failed to honor the contract provision that said that they should have paid extra duty on May 30th!

We will keep you posted of further developments.
