CAT Tracks for September 7, 2001
IMPORTANT MEETING! |
Most of you are aware that there has been discussion about merging some or all of Cairo School District's local unions into one union--an organizational structure commonly referred to as "wall-to-wall". Any such change would require a majority vote of the members of each affected union. Initial "soundings" revealed that there was enough interest in the idea to warrant further exploration.
Any proposed change in the status quo always raises questions and/or concerns. Therefore, we need to hold a general CAT meeting to allow any and all members the opportunity to voice their opinions on the advisability of changing the organization. There are sure to be advantages and disadvantages of doing so. This is what needs to be discussed so that an informed decision can be made. So...
PLEASE MAKE PLANS TO ATTEND THIS MEETING!
We need to know how you feel about this very important issue.
A vote will be taken during the day at each attendance center on Thursday, September 13, 2001 to decide the wishes of the CAT membership on the merger issue.
NEGOTIATIONS?
During the general CAT membership meeting on September 11th, you will also receive an update on contract negotiations and be given the opportunity to ask questions about the progress/process.
