The Illinois House of Representatives adjourned late Saturday afternoon without voting on SB 27, the pension bill.
Due to previous engagements, several House Democrats were unavailable Saturday. Because the pension bill lacks Republican support, every available Democrat vote is needed to pass the controversial legislation, so the House will reconvene at 2:00 Sunday, May 29. A vote on the pension bill is expected sometime on Sunday.
If the House approves the legislation, SB 27 will head to the Senate, and, if approved there, Governor Blagojevich is expected to sign the bill soon after.
