CAT Tracks for January 13, 2006
GARTH BROOKS & WAL-MART |
Okay...in a timely follow-up to this morning's CAT Tracks story on Maryland and Wal-Mart, received the following e-mail with a link to an amusing "video". It takes a while to load, but it's worth a look. Be sure your audio is turned up...
Did you happen to catch country star Garth Brooks in one of
those Wal-Mart holiday commercials? According to Garth, "it's great to work for Wal-Mart."
But American Rights at Work wondered...what would happen if Garth found out what it's really like to work for the retail giant? What would he have to say about Wal-Mart's ruthless campaign against workers' rights?
Find out by watching our new video - "Friends with Low Wages" at
www.walmartworkersrights.org
We've taken it upon ourselves to update a classic Garth hit and released a new 'music video' giving a behind-the-scenes look at how Wal-Mart treats its workers.
We hope you'll agree that the cartoon is hilarious, but the issue is a serious one. When Wal-Mart employees try to form a union, they often face threats, propaganda, discrimination, intimidation, and even firings.
Because we know you care about Wal-Mart workers' rights, we wanted you to be the first to see it. But we need your help to spread the word and get Wal-Mart to clean up its act and end its unionbusting ways.
Please watch the video at www.walmartworkersrights.org - and then afterwards, be sure to take action.
Thanks,
Liz Cattaneo
