SWOPES RESPONSE TO MERIDIAN II

Gave a lot of thought to the letter that Cairo Superintendent of Schools Dr. Leotis D. Swopes sent to Meridian Superintendent of Schools Yvonne Bullock...

WOW!

Where to begin...

Did y'all dust off your dictionaries???

Shucks, them high fallutin' words ain't the sort I hear when pallin' 'round with my fellow Jane Six Packs and Joe the Plumbers here in Kayro. Hell...made me wanna dress up muh pet pig in a purdy pink dress and apply a thick coat of lipstick!!! Ain't wantin' to be showed up...

A little ol' Hill William like muhself...I thought I'd done right fair 'bout myself...acquirin' my BS. I figured I'd done awright over the years...spreadin' the bull with the best of 'em, even them that had gone on and mastered the trade. But, then, folks had aways warned me 'bout them PhD's...how they could pile it higher and deeper.

They wuz shore right.

Contrary to them that walk on "the dark side", I know when to quit...when to run up the white flag of surrender!

Decided to pop a top, crank up the 8-track with some Willie and Waylon, and watch me some reruns of Green Acres. Ahhhh...it don't get any better'n this!

Next thing I heard was some scratchin' at the front door. A bunch of my friends from low places dropped by...actin' like somebody'd done rubbed their fur in the wrong direction! They said, Ron...we gotta respond. We gotta have THE LAST WORD in this matter.

So, at the risk of bein' labeled "CATty", my friends and I would like to give our take on "the letter". In a word...
