III. Examples of Excellence - Emerson Principal Alene Houston cited some grants applied for and received by teachers and used to buy headphones for computers, bookbags, and art posters.

IV. Recognition of Guests/Comments From Public And Employees - None

V. Approval of Previous Minutes - Motion made, seconded, and passed.

  1. Presentation - District Auditors - Beussink, Hey, Roe, Seabaugh & Stroder, L.L.C./C.P.A. - Presented and explained the District's Annual Financial Report...AFR.
  2. Superintendent Swopes told the BOE that the District was having to return $2,479 in Title I and Title II funds. This amount was "interest" earned on monies received early and deposited. Rules and regulations forbid the District from earning and keeping interest on funds received.

X. Closed Session - The BOE voted to enter closed session at 6:25 p.m. The BOE voted to exit closed session at 8:15 p.m.

XI. Requiring Action/Decisions By Board of Education

  1. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to transfer $40,000 from the Education Fund to the IMRF/Social Security Fund (pending receipt of local property tax revenues.)
  2. Personnel employment, resignation, release, discipline, or compensation.
    a. Employ Charlotte Loveless - Jr. High Student Council Sponsor - Motion was made, seconded, and passed.
    b. Employ Bernard Brown - Assistant Jr. High Boys Basketball Coach - Motion was made, seconded, and passed.
    c. Employ Holly Harper - Assistant High School Girls Basketball Coach - Motion was made, seconded, and passed.
    d. Employ After-School Tutors - Per Attached List - Bennett School - Motion was made, seconded, and passed.
  3. Approve Medical Leave For Faye Oliver - Motion was made, seconded, and passed.
  4. Approve Board Policy Updates - No mention...no action.
  5. Approve Request For Early Graduation - No mention...no action.
  6. Discuss/Approve Proposal For Purchase of Football Bleachers and Light Poles - No mention...no action.
  7. Workshops and Meetings - Reconciliation of Funds - e.g. Cash advances to take trips - Need for policy or directive - No mention...no action (even though this was one of the two aditions to the agenda.)
