CAIRO MAN KILLED IN TRAFFIC ACCIDENT

The Missouri Highway Patrol reported fatalities resulting from traffic accidents in New Madrid and Wayne counties Monday.

At around 10:10 p.m. Sunday, Jeremy D. Matzker, 19, of Patterson, Mo., was traveling on Highway 34 three miles east of Piedmont, Mo., when his 1999 Pontiac ran off the roadway and struck an embankment and a tree. Wayne County Coroner Allen Berner pronounced him dead at the scene 25 minutes later.

And at 1:50 p.m. Monday, Willie B. Love, 51, of Cairo, Ill., lost control of his 2004 Ford when he slid on an icy U.S. 60 near Sikeston, Mo., and crossed a median, striking a 2007 Freightliner driven by Bruce A. Lench of Long Lane, Mo. New Madrid County Coroner Jim McSpadden pronounced Love dead at the scene at 4 p.m. Two passengers in the Freightliner sustained injuries.

Some freezing precipitation is still possible around Cape Girardeau, but chances are low the rest of today and tonight.

Obituaries
Willie B. Love

Willie B. “Pee Wee” Love, Jr. was born Sept. 14, 1957 to the union of Willie B. Love, Sr. and Lubirder Mabry in Greenwood, Miss.

Following the death of his parents, he moved to th ehome of his cousins Tom and Mae Willy Roby, who also preceded him in death. The Lord called Willie home, Monday, Dec. 15, 2008.

Willie accepted Christ as his personal savior in 2004 under the leadership of his brother-in-law, Pastor James V. Watkins, Sr. He was a member of Clay Memorial Church of God in Christ in Grand Chain.

He received his elementary education in Greenwood, Miss. He graduated from High School at Southwest High School in Detroit, Mich.

After graduating from high school, he was employed as an electrician and handy man. He also remodeled and restored homes.

He is survived by two children, Candace Love and Willie B. Love, III of St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Earlene Love of Detroit, Mich., Shirlene Young and District Missionary Willie Mae (Pastor James V.) Watkins of Cairo; a special friend, Pamela Young; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, one granddaughter; a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at Christ Temple Church of God in Christ in Cairo.
