Poems of Love Lost
silent night
you looked at me
sadly
turned away
slowly
and left the way you had come
... not one word was spoken
the night was over
dawn was approaching
all the pain, all the joy,
everything I felt
everything I wanted to tell you
would never be said
it was over
before it began.
we both knew it
when our eyes first met,
our lips first touched,
our hands first explored
a dream,
not even an illusion
a hope,
like a dead leaf
in the wind
not one word was spoken.
you came and you went
silently
leaving me emptier
than you had found me
but I knew before
we both knew
it could never be

last night
where are the words
the truths
that once were spoken
where are the hopes
the dreams
that once were shared
life goes on
time goes by
dreams are lost
and hopes destroyed
simply by reality
last night couldn't last
forever
the way we thought it would
last night
the beginning and the end
no tears, no bitterness
it was a dream
we lived a dream
for one night
last night
