Lacy has hatched, and suprise, she's not all that did!
We have two beautiful Other Colour dragons residing here. There, of course, is Lacy, but we also have a very handsome boy. There was a rather bizarre twist of fate and from out of one seemingly regular egg came both Lacy and.....a hydra. If you are unfamiliar with the term, what it refers to is a two headed dragon. Quite amazing actually. **smile** Again, like I mentioned on the page before this, these unique creatures can be adopted at the Other Colour Dragons agency.
Lacy has lived up to all of my expectations, she is truely beautiful. She is always eager to please, and she understands much of what I've told her about her species. She knows that it is imperative that she aid in the breeding program, to help reintroduce her genotypes to the wild. And she is very willing to do so. She really is a blessing.
The genes for Lacy's particular appearance looks like this oo ss TT. The meanings of each set of letters is really quite simple. The first (oo) refers to the type of dragon, be it an Other Colour, or a Usual Colour. The second set (ss) determines weather the dragon will be a mutation or have inheritable colours. The third and final set (TT) refers to the colour the dragon inherited. Lacy has the same genes as her brother, so you can read more about what each means under his discription.
Emercy is our hydra. One of the offsets of his having two heads is his lack of wings, which is not a problem, as he is an aquatic dragon. We have had a special tank installed near Lacy's sleeping area specifically for him. When I refer to him as aquatic I do not mean to limit his capacities to the water, as he is quite able to live out of this environment. His ideal environment, and what we have tried to provide for him, is one which encompases both dry land, and a swimming area. He is really amazing to watch as he glides through his pool.
Emercy's colour genes are the same as Lacy's, oo ss TT. The two lowercase O's indicate that he is an Other Colour dragon, had he had one uppercase O, he would be a Usual Colour dragon. The double lowercase S's refer to the fact that both he and his sister are mutations, mutations do not pass on to other generations. The genes for a mutated dragon will be passed on to his children, but they will not have the same mutation. The two uppercase T's refer to his inherited colour. Had he not had the previous two genes (lowercase S's) he would be a pure tan dragon.
