For the "dominant life-form" on this planet, homo sapien seems for the most part awfully stupid and careless. Destroying it's planet. Destroying itselfs remorselessly with greed, hate, and crimes against eachother. Breaking solemn promises without thought to one another. How it has survived so long remains a mystery. Perhaps it is the few individuals throughout history that keep redeeming humanity through sacrifice, or through outstanding examples, making it possible for humanity to have yet one more chance to survive. I almost pitty the human race the day it meets a superior life-form that has a real sense of honor, morality, and ideals. Perhaps they will come as teachers and guide humankind to a new golden age in which homo superior will live in peace. If so they have a great task ahead of them. Perhaps they will see what humanity has done to it's world and to one another and decide to put it out of it's ongoing misery. Perhaps they have been subtly influencing actions for thousands of years already. Pray that we can make our steps to the stars to preserve sentient decency before our world as we know it ends. |
