As we approach the dawn of the new millennium we become faced with the questions of what the future will hold for us. Many groups of doomsayers preach the end of the world. Indeed, ours is a troubled time. Some turn to the past and ancient prophecies. Others turn to science, and evidence that the poles of the earth will reverse, bringing about widespread catastrophy. The panic alone, and not the reality, concerning the "Y2K" situation could in itself bring the world to its knees. No matter what perils we may face, we must not lose hope nor forget that we are all sentient members of the human race. Time is of the essence, but truth is more important. The truth is: no matter what color, creed, or religion, we must not fall prey to anything less than love and acceptance. All major religions throughout history teach this, yet unfortunately they have become corrupted and convoluted to the point of hypocrasy- constantly attacking every other belief system whether verbally or physically- breeding hate and fear that causes violence and death. Certainly when humanity releases these corrupt practices and in turn follows the actual teachings of its many religions the world will be best equipped to handle anything, regardless of what the new millennium has in store. |
