I am a fourth year Womyn's Studies and Sociology student and will be graduating this spring with a degree from Carleton University in Ottawa. For the first three years of my university career I attended Carleton University and then upon a Letter of Permission made my way to McMaster University in Hamilton for my final year. While in first year at Carleton I discovered my passion for womyn's studies and feminism through the first year Womyn's Studies class and the outstanding Womyn's Centre that is at Carleton University. While in Ottawa womyn's issues became a part of my daily life and I was very involved in many on campus and local issues dealing with the inequalities of such issues of sexism, racism, ableism etc. I believe that learning about womyn's history, which has for so long been "misplaced" and forgotten, is extremely important to our understanding of where womyn stand today and how we can go about changing oppressive attitudes towards womyn.
