Grandma, looking around the porch, "Every one of you girls have very important names to live up to, like Hilda and Catherine." Rosa, sitting on Grandma's lap, "Grandma, was there a leader with my name?" Grandma gave Rosa a hug, then said, "There are women in the past with the name Rosa and one that comes to mind was a leader in another way. Her name was Rosa Luxemburg."

Rosa Luxemburg

"The Revolution will come back and announce: I was, I am, I shall be." I step back from the stage and the crowd cheers. I just finished giving a speech to workers in a union hall. My name is Rosa Luxemburg. I was born in Poland in 1871. I am a leader of a group made up of working people. They work in factories, on farms, in stores, in offices, and in many other places. We want reform. This means we want better work places, safer and shorter days. Many work for sixteen hours a day with dangerous machinery. We also want peace and eqality. Peace is when there is no fighting between people or between countries. Equality means that everyone is treated the same and everyone is special. I talk about all of these things in my books and in my speeches. Some people think my ideas are crazy. Many people agree with me. These people buy my books and they come to hear my speeches. Another very important issue is our hope for our country to be all together again. You see, many years ago our country was made into three parts. It is our dream to be independant and make Poland one country again. With hard work and faith ,we hope to make that dream come true. Next Page 1
