Here's a photo of my great-great-great grandfather, John Henry Budden. He went to India in about 1848 as a missionary of the London Missionary Society, and established a mission at Almora, UP, where he served until his death in 1890. Several of his children and his son-in-law also served as missionaries at Almora and Pithoragarh. The photo was taken at Lucknow. I am trying to find any information concerning my G-G-Grandfather Andrew Brown DRIVER, b. 27 Nov 1842, Beverly, MA. According to Harriet Ruth (Waters) Cooke, author of “The Driver Family: A Genealogical Memoir of the Descendants of Robert and Phebe Driver of Lynn, MA” (pub. date 1889), “Andrew, living in 1885 in the East Indies, at Assam, where for twenty years he has been engaged in conducting a tea-plantation, returning to New England but once in that time, when on the death of his wife he came to Beverly, Mass, with his children, placed them in a school there, and returned to the East Indies in 1885.” Andrew married (1) Isabella Emily McCULLOCK, (b. 14 Oct 1843, Kirkcudbright, Scotland) on April 18, 1868 at Cherra Poonjee. I have a copy of the 1868 Quarterly Ecclesiastical Returns of Marriages for the Archdeaconry of Calcutta—Registrar—William Henry Abbott. Their marriage was listed by Francis Hinde, Chaplain, and one of the witnesses was Lt. Col. William McCULLOCK. (Isabella’s father?... have no info). Isabella died 28 Nov 1882, but I do not know where, why, or where her grave is located. All their (5) children were listed as being born in Shillong. I do have a copy of one of the baptism records, their son William McCullock DRIVER. Andrew married (2) Susan Porter DODGE, (b. 29 Dec 1862, Hamilton, MA) on 17 Dec 1885. I only have a date, and do not know if this marriage occured in Assam or in the US. I have some information that says a son was born from this marriage, but know only a name.... Robert DRIVER. I do not have a death date for Andrew Brown DRIVER, but do believe that he returned to the US before he died... although I cannot prove it. I hope that there is someone out there that can help me find more information, or lead me to the right direction. I have further information to supply to anyone who might be able to help. This has been a frustrating search,, as I do not even know where Andrew left for his trips abroad, and with whom he was employed...
