What is a Constant Plate Error Variety?

The category "Constant Plate Error Varieties" includes varieties that their appearance on the paper roles was in a constant frequency. This does not imply that the observed phenomena was on all roles of the particular issue, but rather that it appeared on some, and the repetition is not a result of an momentary failure of the printing process.

The size of the Klussendorf printing plate was 5x12 stamps. The printing process was a cyclographic one, in which the flexible plate is mounted on the printing cylinder. There is usually one plate/cylinder for each printed color, and one cylinder is for the phosphor strip printing.
If there is a flaw on the plate at a certain position, it will reappear on each rotation of the printing cylinder. Because the length of the plate is 12 stamps, the flaw will have a repetition frequency of 12 on the paper role. This phenomenon has been observed in multiple instance of varieties listed below.

The photo below is of a negative used for creating a Klussendorf Printing Plate for printing of the blue color on a roll containing the following stamps (left to right):  Bethlehem, Yafo, Yafo, Nazareth, Tiberias. It can be seen that the plate size is 5 stamps in width and 12 stamps in length.

The image below is a simulation explaining the phenomenon of the 1/12 frequency of appearance of the Constant Plate Error Variety. It is a "snapshot" of the end of rotation number N-1, the full rotation number N (highlighted by a thick black border), and the beginning of rotation N+1. The simulation shows two examples of creation of Constant Plate Error Varieties:
1) A blue dot on the first column from the right, stamp no. 2. It can be seen that the same dot appears again in Rotation N+1.
2) A colored red line appearing in the second column from the right between the last stamp of the previous rotation (N-1) and the first stamp of the current rotation (N).  As explained earlier the printing plate is a flexible one, glued around the printing cylinder. The "Colored Line" variety is created during the printing process as result of color leakage through a crack in the bonding of the printing plate edges.
