John 6:31-36, Luke 1:53
John 4:1-14

"Jesus said to them, `I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst(John 6:35).'"

My favorite movie of all time used to be "The Neverending Story." It was about a young boy who read a book about a great `Nothingness' which threatened to destroy the entire imaginary world inside the book. The boy gets sucked into its world, and his never ending quest is to fill that Nothing with something. That's what the series is about.
The author relied heavily on works by Joseph Campbell and the like, in other words, `mythic structure.' It's very obvious. It's also obvious that the author of The Neverending Story was trying to introspectively fill up a void in his(?) own life by making up a story that would give it meaning. `The Nothing' is that empty void where there's no ideas, a lack of creativity, a lack of meaning. It was a journey into the author's self, into his(?) mind, to try to discover the meaning of their own personal life, to conquer the Nothing.
The problem I have with The Neverending Story is that you could probably keep going with it indefinitely, on that quest to destroy the void of meaninglessness, a void of spiritual and emotional Nothingness, because probably the author is still on that quest himself(?).
But Jesus fills up the nothing. He destroys the nothing. Jesus made himself Nothing to eliminate it forever, like only the Son of God can. He fills up the Nothingness in our own lives with his presence by saying, "Lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age(Matthew 28:20)." He gives us a spring of water, welling up into eternal life, water that will make you cease thirsting(John 3:14). In John 20:22-23, Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit, and the power to forgive sins. He is the bread of life, with him we have no hunger(John 6:35). If that doesn't fill up the Nothing in your life, I don't know what does.

Dear Father in heaven, please fill up the "nothing" in my heart with the love of your son Jesus. Amen. 1
