Kimpap says: "We are all in family of God! Love your brother and sister! Yeah!" | Fuzzy_bread: "Finding yourself"
Romans 7:4-6, 8:14-17
"For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God
(Romans 8:14)."
Everybody goes through a process of trying to `find themselves,' to find who they are, to find their own special
identity. Not many people can figure it out.
I know a guy who can't commit to much of anything. He changes
hats a lot. He never works at any job for more than a month, I'd say. It might be `bad luck,' or maybe he just doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. He wants to be a comedian, he wants to sell dolls, he wants to
run conventions, he probably doesn't know what he wants. He strongly identifies with famous people and products and tries to sell me a lot of stuff. I doubt he's even that settled in his religious beliefs. He was messianic, then he turned conservative
Jewish, but he and his fiancee believe in Ch'i and Buddha and Pele or something. It's like he's desperately searching for an identity
that is truly his. Something he can belong to and participate in where he can say, "That's who I am!" And really mean it.
I too was on a search for an identity. I studied many famous
people and tried to be like them. But they all disappointed me. The only role model I had left was Jesus, and I felt I couldn't live
up to that standard.
However, no matter what, we are children of God, and we belong
to God. That is our identity, no matter what age, race, or sex we are. The world makes it sound cheap and overly simplistic, but we
need to ignore the world and face the simple truth. We have found ourselves. We are children of God through Christ.
Dear Father in heaven, thank you for giving us an identity as
children of God. Thank you for allowing us to belong in your kingdom and in your heavenly family, through your Son Jesus. Amen.
