Fuzzy_bread: Loneliness

Matthew 28: 16-20, Romans 35-39
Psalm 139, 23

"Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted(Psalm 25:16)."

Life can be lonely sometimes. I know from experience. My social life isn't that good. I do a lot of driving, from my college to home, by myself in my parents' car. This has been my fourth year at college, yet most of the people I see are strangers. I don't talk very much, and am very shy. I sit by myself a lot and spend way too much time on the computer.
I grew up in Kansas City, but my family moved out to Grandview, where I know very few people. Grandview is a very lonely place. In fact, my job at a Grandview supermarket is lonely, too. I work in the dairy cooler, and I'm normally the only one back there. In my life so far, I have only asked two girls out on dates, and both of them don't seem to want to return my phone calls. Of course, even when you think you are alone, there are people in your life that you don't think about too much. I have my parents, my brother and my grandmother, and I have some acquaintances at work and school, and my best friend, who lives across town, and my other best friend who now lives in Seattle. However, for the most part, I feel lonely. I e-mail people more than I talk to people in person.
I am sharing all of this because we all have to deal with being lonely at one time or another. Even King David had to deal with it, as we see in Psalm 25:16.
But there is hope for all of us lonely people. Christ is always with us, even if nobody else is. Matthew gives us the good news in chapter 28. Christ says that he is with us to the very end of the age. Again, in Romans 8, we see that we are inseparable from Christ. Not only that, but God sees our every move, as it says in Psalm 139. He also protects us like his sheep (Psalm 23). So, even if you feel like you don't have a friend in the world, remember our savior Jesus Christ. He is with us to the very end of the age, and he cares about us a great deal.

Dear Jesus, we thank you that you are here with us always. Sometimes we are lonely and forget that you are with us to the very end of the age, and will never forsake us. Lord, help us to remember your comforting presence in every aspect of our lives, and give us your peace. Amen.
