MusicDreamer's World
Welcome to the MusicDreamer's World. This site celebrates Music, Mathematics, Myth & Mysticism.

Currently I teach Mathematics at the Minnesota School of Business in Richfield MN, now in its 130th Year of training students for success in business & industry. A year ago, I also joined the faculty of the Institute of Production & Recording in Minneapolis, a newer institution preparing students for careers in the business and technical support of music.

My musical preferences include what's commonly (but inaccurately) called "Classical." Often you'll find me listening to Bach, Beethoven & Brahms as well as Debussy, Dvorak, Smetana, Holst, Vaughan Williams, Mahler, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Shostakovitch, Gershwin, Copland & Hovhaness. Then sometimes I prefer listening to the jazz of Miles Davis & Dave Brubeck or even the music of the Beatles & Pink Floyd!

My favorite contemporary composers include Dominick Argento, Philip Glass & Aaron Jay Kernis (all USA), as well as Arvo Part (EST), Henryk Gorecki (POL) & John Tavener (GBR). My favorite performers include violinists Anne Akiko Meyers (USA) & Vanessa-Mae (GBR), guitarist Sharon Isbin (USA), percussionist Evelyn Glennie (GBR).

Our local orchestras are the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Music Director Andreas Delfs (DEU) & Baroque Series Director Nicholas McGegan (GBR) & the Minnesota Orchestra, Music Director Osmo Vänskä (FIN).
