Fairy Faery Faerie Feri
Some Answers About this Web Site
One articulate and reasoned one is at: While the page is mostly critical without being abusive, I am very disturbed that they accuse Ellen Perlman/Lilinah biti-Anat of being the creator of this website. They obviously have no clue, and shouldn't make unverified accusations that could hurt someone. I sure hope this hasn't caused her too much trouble in her community. Back to the more reasonable stuff. They complain that I removed my "Guest Book". Indeed I did. I was tired of the abusive messages posted there. I cannot say they were unexpected. It was typical of bahavior in the Feri community for many many years. Ferigold also notes that on my "Feri Principles" page "the author paraphrases Anna Korn/Andraste without giving her credit." Actually, I do give her credit, and I thank Anna for giving me permission to use the material, although perhaps so much time has elapsed that she no longer remembers posting that to the Guest Book. Or perhaps the author of Ferigold hasn't looked at my website for a long time.
Since my web site was put up, members of the Feri Tradition have become somewhat more public. This is a good thing. Feri is a very valuable practice and has been relatively unknown and often very secretive. One example of this is the printed magazine Witch Eye which also has a web presence and some articles on line at: Certainly, the tradition has some secrets. This is normal for religions like ours, which depend on training ourselves in using our energy and conjoining it with a particularly powerful energy current. But it was not the secrecy per se that bothered me. Rather, it was the sniping, back biting, and finger pointing that have gone on among Feris for decades, that bothered me. These launched into periodic "wars" between various teachers, each accusing the other of not teaching the "real" Feri tradition, and leaders and members of one branch telling the trainees and initiates of another that they weren't really Feri, to the extent of saying that their initiations were not valid. Victor himself did this, if he were perturbed by any of his initiates for some reason - even if he had initiated them himself many years before and they had been teaching for a very long time and maintaining contact with him. After particularly ugly outbreaks, there have be gatherings of leaders of various branches to try to work out the conflicts. Some of these meetings were very productive, but they have never ended the distrust and competition among branches. I expected to get attacked. And after reading over the various messages in my Guestbook, I could see that the behavior met my expectations. I was not only verbally attacked, I was also cursed. I was not surprised. Feri isn't a "fluffy bunny" practice. While cursing is not encouraged, it is considered a valid practice when necessary. Ferigold also mentions that Victor Anderson, founder of this tradition, objected to various aspects of this website. Victor did not use a computer, so he could only know about this site through his students and initiates, and I feel certain that my site was not presented objectively. Apparently Victor said that my site did not represent his personal practice. This is absolutely true. I do not present Victor's practice. What I try to do here is indicate some of the variety that exists within the Feri Tradition today. I have NEVER tried to pass this site off as belonging to or being approved by Victor. That would be very very wrong. If people thought so, they were not reading carefully. Ferigold says that my site, and I quote, "consists of original materials authored mainly by Gabriel of Bloodrose, Francesca De Grandis, and Anna Korn - each of whom has put a highly personal stamp on what they have received through Victor's line." This is true as far as it goes. In fact, there are elements here on the Road to Faerie from quite a number of other teachers as well. And I've blended some of my own in as well. Frankly, I have not revealed any material I was bound by oath to protect. That would be wrong. And I am certainly not pretending to teach Feri over the internet. That would be impossible. Feri requires personal attention and years of intensive study, preparation, and practice. This website was not put up for my personal aggrandizement. If it were, I would be making myself available through it as another teacher to all and sundry on the net and trying to turn a profit, as a certain person who claims to teach "Welsh Fairy" does. I put this site up to give a little taste of the Feri Tradition. Based on favorable comments - and there have been favorable comments, even from other Feris - I think I may have acheived this to a tiny extent.
