You have posted a quote on your site from Rousseau's "Social Contract which states "Men are born Free, but everywhere is found in chains" The next part of the quote is about the master being a slave himself. I have read the Social Contract, but am not sur what he means. If he is suggesting that the preservation of the individual by the individual deprives from his own freedom the logic is unconvincing. Furthermore, in Rousseau's opinion, men are not brutish in the state of nature and therefore self intere t cannot deprive one of freedom. Nevertheless, please e-mail me and clarify this claim since you have been so enthusiastic in posting it. Thanks
