Welcome to our children's recipes.I love to cook and to bake. I am always on the look out for a new recipe.The following recipes are ones that I have collected over the years and that children seem to enjoy. I hope that you and your family will enjoy them as well.

~Sandwiches and Stuff~

 

Checkered Sandwiches

1 slice white bread
1 slice whole wheat or pumpernickel
Cold cuts or sandwich spread

Place sandwich spread,cold cuts on the whole wheat or pumpernickel
bread. Place white bread on top of this. Cut into 9 squares.Reverse and
alternate colours.

Silly Face Sandwiches

Bologna slice
Mustard (mouth)
Sweet pickle slice (nose)
Celery slices (eyebrows)
2 olive halves (eyes)  

Jiffy Pizza 

English muffin or bread
Tomato sauce
Cheese slices
Pepperoni, sausage, or bologna

Spread 1 spoonful of tomato sauce on each slice of bread/each english
muffin half. Put 1 slice of cheese on top. Put small pieces of pepperoni,
sausage, or bologna on top of cheese, you may do this in reverse order
according to your own preferences. Broil in the oven until the cheese
bubbles. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Jiffy pizza!



~Jello and Pudding~

Rainbow Jello

4 (3 oz.) pkg Jello(lime,lemon,orange,and cherry)
2 envelopes unflavoured gelatin
1 pt. sour cream
2 cups milk
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Grease a 9X13 inch pan. Mix lime jello with 1 1/2 cups hot water. Pour 
into a pan to set, about 45 minutes. In separate bowls, mix the other 3 jello 
flavours with 1 1/2 cups hot water and set aside at room temperature. 
Heat the milk and sugar to near boiling point. Mix gelatin with 1/2 cup
cold water . Add gelatin a little at a time to hot milk and stir to prevent
lumping. Add sour cream and vanilla. Set aside at room temperature.
Pour 1/3 of mixture over lime jello and let set until firm. Continue setting
each layer in the same manner. Let set 24 hours before serving.


Wiggly Gelatin Squares

3 envelopes unflavoured gelatin
1 1/2 cups cold water
6 oz. can frozen orange juice, concentrated, thawed
28 gummy worms

Spray 2 nonmetal ice cube trays with nonstick cooking spray. In a
medium saucepan, sprinkle the gelatin over the water; allow to soften
for 1 to 2 minutes. Cook over medium heat until gelatin dissolves, stirring 
constantly. Stir in juice concentrate; blend well. Cool to room temperature.
Place 1 gummy worm in each ice cube section. Pour gelatin mixture over
gummy worms. Refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. Run knife around edge 
of square. Remove from trays. Makes 26 to 28 squares.

Super No-Drip Pops

Large pouch of Kool-Aid (sugar free or the kind you may add sugar too
3 oz. pkg Jello
2 cups boiling water
1 1/4 cups cold water
Sugar to taste, if desired.

Dissolve drink mix,sugar and jello in boiling water. Add cold water. Pour
into popsicle molds and freeze. Yummy sicles that won't drip as easily. 

Frozen Pudding-Wiches

1 1/2 cups cold milk
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 pkg. Jello instant chocolate or vanilla pudding and pie filling
24 pkg. graham crackers or chocolate wafers

Add milk gradually to peanut butter in a bowl, blending until smooth.
Add pudding mix. Beat slowly with hand beater or at lowest speed of
electric mixer until well blended, about 2 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes.
Spread filling about 1/2 inch think on 12 of the crackers. Top with
remaining crackers, pressing lightly and smoothing around edges with
spatula. Freeze until firm, about 3 hours. Makes 12 "wiches"



~Desserts~

Dirt Cups


2 cups cold milk
4 serving size chocolate instant pudding
2 cups Cool Whip, thawed
20 chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed (dirt)
10 plastic cups
Gummy worms, frogs (your choice)

Pour milk into large bowl. Add pudding mix, beat at low speed of electric
mixer until well blended, 1 t o2 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes. Fold in
whipped topping and half of crushed cookies. Place 1 tbsp. crushed cookies
in the bottom of each cup. Fill cups 3/4 full with pudding mixture. Top with
remaining crushed cookies. Garnish with gummy worms. Chill, if not
serving immediately. Makes 10 servings. 

Chocolate Marshmallow Brownie Cake    

This cake is always a hit. Kids just love it! = 0 )

Cake                                                       Icing
1/2 cup butter, softened                        1/2 cup white suga
1 cup white sugar                                 2 tbsp. milk
4 eggs, room temperature                       2 tbsp. butter
1 1/4 cups chocolate syrup                      1/4 cup semi-sweet choc. chips
1 tsp. vanilla                                       1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
pinch salt
2 1/2 cups mini marshmallows

Cake: In large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until well mixed.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in chocolate
syrup and vanilla. In small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
Stir flour mixture into chocolate syrup mixture al little at a time until well
combined. Pour batter into a lightly grease 13X9 inch pan. Bake at 350 for
40 to 45 minutes or until ledges of cake pull away from sides of pan. Remove
from oven; place pan on wire rack. Immediately cover surface of cake with
marshmallows and set aside.

Icing: In a small heave saucepan, combine sugar, milk, and butter over
low heat; stirring constantly, until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved. 
Add chocolate chips and vanilla; stir until chips have melted. Remove from
heat. Beat for 2 minutes until smooth and glossy. Drizzle hot icing evenly
over marshmallows.

Let cool completely before cutting into squares. Serves 10-12.
