The following parable from the Buddhist canon provides a beautiful visual metaphor for the interdependence and interpenetration of all phenomena:

"Suspended above the palace of Indra, the Buddhist god who symbolizes the natural forces that protect and nurture life, is an enormous net. A brilliant jewel is attached to each of the knots of the net. Each jewel contains and reflects the image of all the other jewels in the net, which sparkles in the magnificence of its totality."

— from "Thoughts on Education for Global Citizenship", a lecture given by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda at Columbia University on June 13, 1996.

Indras.Net A network of individuals affiliated with the Soka Gakkai International (SGI), a lay Buddhist movement with members in over 130 countries. Participants in this network have a common interest in self-expression using the Internet World Wide Web technology. The style and focus of such self-expression will vary from individual to individual, yet what all hold as a common set of values are integrity, honesty, openness, fairness and creativity in thought and in written word.

What we are doing here

Indras.Net maintains a WebRing, a network of independent WWW sites created by individual members of the SGI or by groups of members working collaboratively. A WebRing is a means of linking sites that have a common theme, topic or area of interest; at the present time thousands of WebRings exist on topics ranging from photography to social issues to computer programming. A WebRing is not a corporation or an organization of any sort, but rather a cooperative system of offering access to many sites in such a way that the experience of searching for sites of interest (or "surfing" the Web) is more enjoyable and productive for the visitor.

This site (the Indras.Net WebRing Home Page) and the group (Indras.Net) of individuals which maintain it are not sponsored by, authorized by, sanctioned by or in any way otherwise acting as an official part of the Soka Gakkai International or any of its member or affiliate organizations.

Ring Membership
Membership in the Indras.Net WebRing may be applied-for by any SGI member or friend of the SGI wishing to have his or her Web Site included in the Ring. The Ringmaster function (see http://www.webring.org/ and Yahoo!/WebRing) is one of screening applicants to the Ring. Only those sites judged suitable for inclusion in the Ring will be accepted.

Apply To Join the Ring
If you have a WWW site that you would like to see included in the Indras.Net WebRing, please send e-mail to the address below, and do not forget to include in that message the URL address for your Website. After visiting your site the Indras.Net team will contact you.

Although the WebRing ring navigation bar (see below, if your browser is JavaScript-enabled) found on most sites in the Ring will show users a choice to "join [the Ring] now", this Indras.Net WebRing does not prefer that applicants try to use Yahoo's incompatible auto-application feature. It is preferred that applicants write first to the Indras.Net Administrative Team to ask to be reviewed for possible membership.
