My Sister's Poem
My Sister's Poem
My best friend wrote this poem and she made me swear never to let anyone read it. Well, I promised but that was before I actually read it. Even though she thinks the poem "sucks," I think it is one of the saddest poems that I ever read; I think it is beautiful. Maybe I should end all the suspense and just let you read the poem, huh? Keep in mind that she is just a kid (like me) and not a poet so if her ideas seem jumbled, it's just because this is a particularly hard topic for her to talk about. It is for anybody who went through it. Well, here it goes...

What do you know about being me?
I'm practically invisible and no one can see
How dare you say, "I know how it feels"
When you've never been beaten so bad you could kill?
How can you say that you actually care
But whenever I need you, you are never there?
You've never been ridiculed, never confined
So how can you say it's all in my mind?
You'll never be afraid to go to sleep at night
Afraid he'll be on you and you're too weak to fight
You show me your bruises
You show me your tears
You show me your pain
Then you'll know how it feels
