~~~ The CAR ~~~

Let's discuss the Natal chart. This is a visual display of all the spheres in the sky as they were positioned at the exact time, and from the exact place a person was born. People do not realize how important this is. The difference of 15 min. or 20 min. can make a very big difference in the angles created by the planets. Check it out some time. Stand in the same spot when the Sun or Moon are rising or setting. Watch how fast they change/move. Look at the first or last star to be seen, check out the angles. Then try this some time when you are driving at 50 mph.

Now we will discuss the Ascendant, one of the most important points in a chart. This is the sign of the zodiac we would be looking towards, on the horizon, as the Sun rises on the day a person was born. The starting point (sunrise) of the house system your particular life is based on. Think of this zodiac sign as the car you will drive on your journey. The outside world will see this outer shell. It will contain the eight planets, Sun and Moon (they're called luminaries). Think of them as the passengers in your car. They are your family, your neighbors, your friends, maybe even your enemies. Who will drive? Many times it is the Sun, but not always. If it does not have enough support it could take a back seat to a bullier planet or even a cry baby Moon.

The car you drive depicts the speed you can go, the smoothness of your ride, etc. Is it a Corvette or a Volkswagon? Does it have a powerful engine or a mere 4 cylinders? Let's say your car is a Leo. You would have strength and power at your fingertips but can the driver handle it? The ability for some creative driving is also there but as a child your car is driven by a weak and sensitive Moon. The other planets are sleeping. All of a sudden Mercury wakes up (triggered by a Transit). It wants to drive and raises a stink until it wakes up Mars (more than one planet can be triggered) who joins in. The Moon gives up and let's Mercury drive for a while. Now were in for a faster, riskier ride. Mercury knows how to manuver that creative ability and we start to see things happen.

We're changing but we're still driving the same car and carrying the same passengers. It is the spheres that change and interact as we journey through time and space. We learn about our car and it's passengers when we look at a Birth chart. There are many elements involved. I am using the example of a car to try and get across the extreme importance of an accurate Birth chart. People seem to believe that the sign you were born in is all that matters. This is a misconception. We are comprised of elements effected by all the spheres and all the signs in endless combinations.

We can understand to a degree but never truely predict because there is a human factor involved. There are many roads to take to reach our destination. Once a person seeks an Astrologer they are open to direction. A good Astrologer will help the person learn to see themselves in relation to the Universe. Then, to use the persons own abilities to help them decide which road to use in their journey.
