CYBERLAW & SOCIETY   www.cyberlaws.org
Welcome to Cyberlaw & Society!

The Internet has grown tremendously over the past seven years.  With this growth there have been a number of issues raised as the global society wrestles with the notion of an un- or under-regulated world accessible to millions of people.

Attempts have been made to regulate the internet through domestic law in the U.S., Canada and elsewhere.  Freedom of Expression, a western concept, has allowed pornography and hate sites to flourish and this has angered some groups while others see such sites as a small price to pay for the guarantee of freedom.

On-line gambling sites have angered some jurisdictions intent on getting a slice of the revenues generated while other areas have embraced this new industry.  Words traditionally thought to be defamatory are found all across the Net while Copyrights and Trademarks are flaunted.

What is to be done?  Should the internet be governed?  How is it to be governed?  Who has jurisdiction?

How does the internet and the attempts to regulate it affect society?  This is the scope of Cyberlaw & Society.  The mandate is to identify and analyze the growing field of Cyberlaw and the effects of Cyber-space and -law on our global society from socio-economical, political and legal perspectives.

Essays on a range of Cyberlaw topics will soon be available.

Links to other interesting Cyberlaw sites are included.  My hope is that
Cyberlaw & Society becomes your main source for a comprehensive listing of Cyberlaw sites.

Let me know what you think and feel free to inform me of interesting sites not listed.  As well, submissions on interesting cyberlaw essays are currently being accepted for inclusion on this site.

Please take a look around and enjoy!
