The class is made up of members who have had a beginner class, or have worked with computers to some extent. The Advanced class does not follow a structured curriculum, but has varied weekly instructions in everything from basics to more advanced. Twice yearly, usually in February and September, members of the Advanced Class teach an 8-week beginner class.
The group was originated in 1990 by three members of the Southwest PC Users Group. As part of the SWPCUG program, the three decided to establish a class and teach computers. Lively Center offered an adequate room. They began with a class of 6 and have progressed to the more than 50 active members today. One requirement of the class was "If you learn something in the class you must teach it to others." Our Advanced Class today encourages this same premise so this very successful program can continue.
